The valley station of the Hintertux Glacier lifts is just a 3-minute walk from the Hintertuxerhof. Many of our guests leave their cars behind after arrival and start their skiing, hiking, or family vacation on foot. The valley station of the Hintertux Glacier lift is only about a 3-minute walk away and easily accessible by the Hintertux ski bus from October to Easter. Families especially appreciate the short distances to the ski area and the option of returning directly to the hotel after a day on the slopes.
When are check-in and check-out times?
Your room is usually available from 3 pm on your arrival day. On your departure day, we kindly ask you to vacate your room by 11 am. Early check-in or late check-out is possible depending on availability. Please contact our reception team in advance if you have any questions.

Yes – right next to the hotel is a 2,000 m² family playground with plenty of space to run around, play, and explore. The playground is open year-round. Summer highlights include the glacier worm bouncy castle and the water slides.
Does the hotel have a mascot?

Our baby and toddler care is available from 6 months of age. Regular childcare is for children aged 3 and up and offers age-appropriate, varied activities daily from 9 am to 9 pm.
Is there baby care at the Hintertuxerhof and does it need to be reserved in advance?
Yes – our baby care is available daily and is possible from 6 months of age. We kindly request that you reserve in advance before your arrival – ideally when booking your stay. This is the only way we can guarantee childcare.
What are the daily opening hours of the childcare program?
Our childcare program is open daily from 9 am to 9 pm – all year round, not just during school holidays.
Are children also supervised during lunchtime?
Yes – children in childcare are, of course, lovingly cared for around lunchtime as well. Please note that lunch with supervision is not included in the price. Registration is handled through the childcare staff.
Can siblings of different ages be cared for together?
Yes – in many cases, this is easily possible. Our caregivers ensure that each child receives age-appropriate care while still allowing siblings to enjoy as many shared holiday moments as possible.
What should we bring for our baby's care?
Most importantly, bring your baby's usual personal items – for example, diapers, wipes, a change of clothes, a pacifier, a favorite cuddly toy, or any special food. We'll gladly discuss everything else with you personally after your arrival.

Yes – our Junior Suites have a separate children's sleeping area that can be separated from the parents' area by a sliding door. Our Family Suites offer separate children's bedrooms and some even have their own bathrooms.

Yes – upon request, we are happy to provide a crib, bed rail, changing mat, diaper pail, bottle warmer, and other practical baby and toddler equipment. You can let us know exactly what you need for your little ones during pre-check-in.

During your stay, you'll enjoy our 3/4 board PLUS with a varied breakfast buffet, afternoon snack, and a multi-course dinner menu with various options for adults and children. "Kurt's Drink Bar" with juice, water, soda, coffee, and tea is included daily from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Are there special menus or buffets for children?
Yes – we offer a special children's buffet daily for our younger guests, featuring popular favorites and kid-friendly classics. Children are also welcome to join their parents for the regular dinner menu if they wish. If nothing suitable is available, children can also choose from our children's menu.
Can allergies or intolerances be accommodated?
Yes – please inform us of any allergies or intolerances before your arrival so that our kitchen can best cater to your needs.

Yes – subject to availability, external guests are also welcome to enjoy our daily evening menu. À la carte dining is unfortunately not possible. Advance reservations are required. During the day, our restaurant is reserved exclusively for our hotel guests.
Wellness & Active
Is there a wellness area at the hotel?
Yes – in our wellness oasis, parents can relax and recharge after an active day of vacation. Since sauna sessions are also suitable for children, we hold a family sauna day twice a week, when kids can join their parents or grandparents in the wellness area.
Is there a pool?
No – intentionally not. Many families tell us after their vacation that they didn't miss the pool at the Hintertuxerhof at all. For those who still fancy some water fun: In Hintertux, there are two hotels whose swimming pools can be used by external guests for a small fee. The nearest public swimming pool is in Mayrhofen, only about a 30-minute drive away, and the Zillertal Thermal Spa in Fügen is about 45 minutes from the hotel. In summer, our large and small water slides right next to the playground provide refreshment on warm days. There is also a small outdoor thermal pool in Hintertux, which you can reach in just a few minutes on foot. Our guests can also use the outdoor swimming pool in Finkenberg free of charge.
Which saunas are available?
Our Finnish sauna, bio sauna, and steam room offer relaxation. The infrared cabin is beneficial for muscles and joints. Our spacious relaxation room with a tea lounge invites you to unwind.
Is there a fitness room in the hotel?
Yes – a fitness room is also available for our guests.
Are there guided hikes or activity programs?
Yes – depending on the season, we offer guided family hikes as part of our weekly program. The hiking program of the Zillertal Alps Nature Park is also included for our guests. Depending on the tour, there may be additional costs for taxi or gondola rides.

Can we also visit the Hintertux Glacier in summer?

Autumn in the Tux Valley is wonderfully diverse. Hiking is often still possible in the valley, while winter conditions can already prevail on the Hintertux Glacier. But of course, depending on the weather, snow is also possible in the valley – then perhaps the first family snowball fight of the season will take place.

Is the Hintertuxerhof suitable for ski holidays with young children?
Yes – absolutely. Many families with babies, toddlers, and school-aged children appreciate our location right next to the ski area, the practice lift directly at the hotel, the daily childcare, and the short distances. This makes for a relaxing ski holiday, even with young children.
How far is the valley run from the hotel?
Depending on snow conditions, the valley run from the Hintertux Glacier leads directly to the Hintertuxerhof from December to April. This allows you to conveniently start your day on the slopes and ski right back to the hotel at the end of the day – it couldn't be easier.
Is there a ski rental shop nearby?
Yes – right next to the Hintertux Glacier lift, you'll find Sport Nenner, for example, with ski rental and a sports shop, as well as modern equipment for children, teenagers, and adults.
Can children learn to ski directly at the hotel?
Yes – there is a practice lift with a children's ski area right next to the hotel. This is ideal, especially for beginners and little ski stars, as no long transfers are necessary. We recommend booking your ski lessons with the Tuxertal Ski School before your arrival.
What winter activities are there off the slopes?
There's plenty to do off the slopes as well: winter hiking, cross-country skiing, tobogganing, building snowmen, curling, ice skating, roasting marshmallows around a campfire, or enjoying family evenings with our team.
Are there toboggan runs nearby?
Yes – there's a 3 km toboggan run near the Bichlalm in Hintertux and a 4 km run near the Höllenstein Hut in Lanersbach.
Can you also go cross-country skiing in Hintertux?
The Tux-Finkenberg region offers up to 16 km of groomed trails for classic and skating techniques. The highlight is the 14 km Luggi-Gredler trail, which stretches from Tux-Vorderlanersbach to Madseit. The 1.5 km cross-country ski trail in Hintertux is ideal for technique training and fast laps. Access to the Hintertux trail is directly from the hotel. Use of the trails is free for guests.

Can you still ski in spring?

Are there fewer guests on the slopes in spring?
Outside of peak holiday periods, spring is often significantly more relaxed than during the main holidays. Many families enjoy shorter waiting times and more space on the slopes.

Where exactly is the Hintertuxerhof located?
The Hintertuxerhof is located in Hintertux in the upper Tux Valley – just a few minutes' walk from the Hintertux Glacier lifts. Our ideal location is a real plus in winter, with the ski run right to the hotel and the ski school practice lift directly at the hotel. But the Hintertuxerhof is also the perfect starting point for hikes, family outings, and mountain adventures in the Tux Valley in spring, summer, and autumn.
Do we need a car during our stay?
Not necessarily. Many activities start right at the hotel – whether skiing, hiking, winter hiking, or family excursions. The bus stops for the free hiking bus in summer and the ski buses in winter are also very close by. Many guests arrive and leave their cars parked for the entire holiday.
Is there parking directly at the hotel?
Yes – free parking is available directly at the Hintertuxerhof. NEW: Starting in December 2026, we will also offer underground parking spaces – all information is currently available via email.
