Ski areas at the Zillertal, Hintertux Glacier & Co
A vision in white – a ski holiday in the Zillertal in Tyrol. The snow-reliable Zillertal ski regions of Penken, Rastkogel, Eggalm and the Hintertuxer Gletscher in winter become the „Ski- & Gletscherwelt Zillertal 3000“. 5 ski regions – 1 ski pass – and… unique in Austria, unlimited ski fun from 630 metres to 3,250 metres above sea level! Covering unbelievable dimensions of 202 km in slope length and a surface area of 615 hectares, 66 lift and cable car systems guarantee a superlative ski holiday. On the „Gletscherrunde“ (glacier circuit) it is possible to ski over a breathtaking 15.000 metres of altitude difference and 72 km in length of varied runs ranging from blue to black. The longest run is 12 km long with an altitude difference of 1,750 metres from top to bottom – awesome! 35 ski huts and mountain restaurants are on hand to provide weary guests with some welcome R & R between runs. Sensational views can be enjoyed at the Panorama Terrace on the Hintertux Glacier at 3,250m as well as the viewing point at the Wanglspitz next to the top lift station of the 150er Tux at Rastkogel. Just for a short, short break from skiing! Boarders can kick off to their heart’s content in the Betterpark Hintertux (April to mid December) or at the Vans Penken Park. Try out the snow covered downhill runs right down to the valley at the Eggalm, Rastkogel and the „Schwarze Pfanne“. Access to the Glacier Round is possible from all 4 ski regions. The Zillertaler Superskipass is available from 2 to 21 days for all the ski areas in the Zillertal. For individual ski areas you can have it for up to 1 1/2 days.
Off-piste activities
The wonderful winter landscape invites you to explore nature in white – whatever your taste – on a winter hike, a sled ride, cross-country ski run, a ski tour… or a thrilling ice climbing expedition. What about an exciting tobogganing trip? Enjoy with your family, friends or during a romantic day with your partner. Three natural toboggan runs await you in Tux.
Cross Country Skiing – on the Luggi Gredler Loipe
The sports facilities in Tuxertal include 14 km of classical cross-country skiing tracks from Tux-Vorderlanersbach to Madseit, and a 14 km skating track in Juns/Madseit. The track is maintained by the Tux-Finkenberg Tourist Association and is available for use free of charge.
Winter hiking trails
There are 68 km of winter hiking trails in Tux and Finkenberg, which are cleared and groomed. The trails to the Eggalm, Penken or Sommerberg are a challenge – you will be rewarded with traditional mountain huts and panorama restaurants with Ziller Valley specialities. If you prefer to enjoy the wonderful views without so much effort, simply take the cable cars up to the top. Hiking is a great training. Muscels, tendons and ligaments are exercised. It gets circulation going by pumping more blood around your body.
